God of the Sea

Time is an ocean, I decided to swim. Said screw it, and dove right in.
The water surrounds me and it pulls me down. Down to Atlantis, down to drown.
Time is a river, and it goes on by. To the edge of the world, and into the sky.
But I keep swimming strong. So I don’t go back to where I’m from.
I’d go on for a thousand miles and a thousand years, just so I don’t end up back here.
Ya I’d do anything to get out of this current, out of the current, and into the future.
Anywhere but here, Anything but fear.
Anywhere with you, Anything with you.
That’s what I’d do.
If I were god of the sea I’d save you and me.
Leave everyone else to drown, leave everything in this town.
Leave everything behind, out of my mind, out of my sight, out of my life, out of our life.
Just you and me, just me and you.
That’s what I’d do.
Time is a lake, teeming with life. Either uninterested., or interested in causing strife.
An eel to sting you when you do something wrong, A shark to bite you when you don’t get along.
Time is rain, falling from the sky. Washing away problems, leaving memories to the public eye.
I continue to cry, just to forget the where and why.
I’d go on through a thousand smiles for a thousand years, just so I don’t remember I’m here.
But I’ll stay and wait, cause you have faith left, even though all I see is the hate left, and right
Ready to fight anyone who doesn’t think like them, act like them, look like them, see like them, see like them, be like them.
If it were up to me, I’d leave, with you.
That’s what I’d do.

By the Coast

The other day I was down by the sea,
holding those flowers that he’d give to me.
I stole a glance at that one house he had,
Where the shutters quivered in the wind.
If I wrote a letter to the past,
I’d tell him I’d lasted.
But as I ran into the blue,
My tears mixed with the waves.
And the pain tasted the same,
As missing him.
I felt that salty-sweet sea breeze,
And the memories you’d had of me.
So much to do and little time for it,
Your tender love could’ve grown a forest.
But now I’m sat here at your grave,
So I won’t forget those things we made
And the songs we played
In that old rundown town by the coast
Yes that old rundown town by the coast
I remember him walking up to me,
Saying that we could never be.
It wasn’t that we weren’t in love,
All he said was I have to go.
I saw his heart sunken in his eyes,
The way he wept throughout his life.
But as he ran into that blue,
His tears mixed with the rain.
And the pain tasted the same,
As losing him.
I felt that salty-sweet sea breeze,
And the memories you’d had of me.
So much to do and little time for it,
Your tender love could’ve grown a forest.
But now I’m sat here at your grave,
So I won’t forget those things we made
And the songs we played
In that old rundown town by the coast
Yes that old rundown town by the coast

Periwinkle

We went down to the store
And got some new buttons
For your jacket
Say it ain't lovely
We found some cool pebbles
Down by the sea
You played a game of catch with
Them and with me
And then we rode around
In your dusty old car
Where the windows are brown
We went out to eat
Together together
Cause we don’t like
Fast food in this weather
Good old tulips
Grown from the ground
From where we had thrown them
And your mother had frowned
And then we rode off
In your dusty old car
Where the seats are all soft
I put sunflowers in your hair
You put periwinkles in mine
We loved the stars at midnight
And the moon was white as wine
Cause the grass is always greener
When I spend my time with you
And just to stay by your side
There’s nothing I wouldn’t do
We tried to go out shopping
But we’re way to poor
They wouldn’t even let us in
When we knocked on the door
I hate to break it to you
That I’m such a mess
I want you to be next to me
While I slowly undress
The sound of your voice
Playing in my ears
After you said
Let’s get away from here
And then we rode away
In your dusty old car
Where the paint’s faded grey

Walk By

I felt that cold rain
Tapping on my brain
I felt that cold breeze
In between my knees
I was standing right there
Hands in my hair
I wanted to cry
Into the palms on my eyes
I can’t talk to you anymore
Can’t even play the part
You took my most precious thing
You ran away with my heart
I can’t talk to you anymore
Can’t be in the same room
You took my most precious thing
You have brought upon my doom
And I’ll be here, just waiting
For you to walk by
And I’ll stay here, simply waiting
For the courage to say hi
We won’t ever see
What this could be
I tried to tell you
But you said it wasn’t true
My heart broke in my chest
Your friendship never let me rest
Hurry up, slow down
You’re gonna make me drown
I can’t talk to you anymore
Can’t even play the part
You took my most precious thing
You ran away with my heart
I can’t talk to you anymore
Can’t be in the same room
You took my most precious thing
You have brought upon my doom
And I’ll be here, just waiting
For you to walk by
And I’ll stay here, simply waiting
For the courage to say hi
Here is an age old grave
Of when we pretended to be brave
In it lies our soul
Which without I am not whole
My cheeks have ached now for a while
Holding up my fading smile
And now that you’re gone
No hope will dawn
I can’t talk to you anymore
Can’t even play the part
You took my most precious thing
You ran away with my heart
I can’t talk to you anymore
Can’t be in the same room
You took my most precious thing
You have brought upon my doom
And I’ll be here, just waiting
For you to walk by
And I’ll stay here, simply waiting
For the courage to say hi
